Experience
Dr. Cappiello has practiced general dentistry for over 20
years with a focus on restorative treatment and full mouth
rehabilitation. He believes in a team approach to patient care
and works with top specialists who complement his skills. He
believes his patients need to be active in maintaining their
own health, and, therefore, must have an understanding of their
current state. Dr. Cappiello takes time explaining his findings
to patients so that they can make decisions about the type
of treatment they want.
Dr. Cappiello is a second generation
American. All of his grandparents immigrated to the United
States from Italy between 1899 and
1910. His parents grew up in Northern New Jersey, where Dr.
Cappiello was born. His family moved to Wilmington, Delaware
in 1968, where he was raised.
Dr. Cappiello attended the University
of Delaware where he earned a B.S. summa cum laude in Chemistry.
He then received
his D.D.S. from Georgetown University’s School of Dentistry
in 1986. He was married three weeks after graduation, and settled
in Northern Virginia with his wife, Sandy. From 1988-1990,
the Cappiellos lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where Sandy
was assigned to the American Embassy. While there, Dr. Cappiello
volunteered part-time at a dental clinic in a Vietnamese refugee
camp where he provided a broad range of services (mostly emergency
care) to the Vietnamese “boat people.”
For the past
16 years, Dr. Cappiello and his wife have lived in Vienna
with their three children: two daughters, ages 18
and 16, and a son age 14. All three attend Marshall High
School where they are active on the cross country, track and
field,
field hockey and soccer teams. Dr. Cappiello and Sandy are
active Marshall fans.
Dr. Cappiello has taken continuing
education courses at the prestigious Schuster Center for
Professional Development
in Scottsdale, AZ, and the Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne,
FL.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, the
Academy of General Dentistry, the Virginia Dental Association,
the
Northern Virginia Dental Society, and the Seattle Study Club.
